HOT SHOTS Boot Warmers
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Hot Shots fit all size boots?
The original Hot Shots were designed for most all-adult foot sizes (generic).
If they appear too small for your foot, don't worry, place them towards
the toes and they will heat up the entire boot. For the season of 2003
we introduced a trim-able foot heater. This allows trimming down the original
size by about one inch in length. Trimming is done at the heel of the
heater. Do not trim past the line or the heater will be damaged.
Is there a possibility to getting shocked?
No. Hot Shots operate at only a nominal 12 volts.
Will Hot Shots draw a lot of power from my electrical system?
Each heater draws less than 1 amp, or 10 watts; less than heated grips
do.
Can the second passenger use the heaters also?
You can wire your snowmobile to use 2 sets of heaters, but remember you
are using more power. Most newer snowmobiles have a high enough electrical
output to handle several accessories. Yes you can wire for 2 sets or have
the passenger or the driver alternate plugging into the jacks (supplied
with one kit).
Will the stretch cord reach the second passenger?
The stretch cords will stretch to 30". Usually this is enough
to reach the rear passenger. If the cord seems too small, you can purchase
a second set of stretch cords and "gang" them together to make a longer
one. (Note: always mount the power jacks pointing toward the rear of the
snowmobile. This allows the cable to pull out straight)
Can the heat be adjusted?
The kit is included with an on-off switch. You can turn it on or off for
heat control. For the best comfort you can purchase an optional heat control.
Then you just turn the knob to the desired heat.
Are Hot Shots difficult to install?
Hot Shots install easily with small hand tools. Tools used are: soldering
gun, drill, pliers, wrenches, etc. The kit includes full instructions.
Can the boot heaters be used in other applications?
Hot Shots can be used on any equipment that has a 12 volt regulated power
supply. ATV's, farm equipment, airplanes, motorcycles, cars, etc. You can
also use them as a portable. Many have used them for ice fishing and deer
stands by connecting to a small "motorcycle" type of battery.
